Yankees expected to call up 6 players today

It’s September 1st and that means the rosters expand to 40 players from the typical 25. The Yankees might call up more players later on once the minor league season ends, but for now they are expected to call up six players, according to Erik Boland of Newsday.

Those players are expected to be catcher Francisco Cervelli, outfielder Chris Dickerson, infielder Eduardo Nunez, righties Cory Wade and Adam Warren, and lefty Justin Thomas.

The only person I’m surprised they are not calling up is Pedro Feliciano, but he’ll probably be called up very soon. No word yet on who will be designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Dickerson will be.

My expectation is that Austin Romine, David Adams, Corban Joseph, Zoilo Almonte, and Melky Mesa will be called up when the minor league season ends.
