Sabathia expected to be ready for Opening Day after elbow surgery

Yankees ace CC Sabathia had elbow surgery to remove a bone spur from his left elbow on Thursday, but it was only minor surgery and he is expected to be ready for Opening Day, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

The surgery was only minor arthroscopic surgery performed by Dr. James Andrews. He’ll have a modified spring program, but that isn’t expected to delay his return at all.

CC pitched through elbow pain over the final two months of the season after landing himself on the DL for two weeks in August. Luckily his ligament was fine and there isn’t expected to be any long term risk.
