Yankees drop Nunez add Eppley to ALCS roster

The Yankees have made some adjustments heading into the ALCS against the Detroit Tigers. Instead of 11 pitchers and 14 position players, they will now be going with 12 pitchers and 13 position players.

Eduardo Nunez has been cut from the roster and righty reliever Cody Eppley will take his place. Nunez was likely on the roster the last time around as insurance for Jayson Nix, who had been dealing with a hip injury late in the season. But Nix was fine in the ALDS, he went 2-for-4 in two games, so Nunez is a little bit unnecessary now.

Eppley will give the bullpen a little bit more depth as they get set to play their third and fourth games in as many days, a bit of a rarity in October. He also provides them insurance in case Joba Chamberlain, who was hit on the elbow by a bat on Thursday, is too sore to pitch.
