Ichiro has NOT re-signed with the Yankees…yet

I don’t usually go around writing about players not signing with the Yankees, but there was a rumor from a Japanese website that Ichiro Suzuki had signed a one-year, $5 million deal to stay with the Yankees which was not true, according to both Sweeny Murti of WFAN and Erik Boland of Newsday.

Sweeny did add that the Yankees are interested in bringing him back and a deal is possible at some point. Nothing has happened yet though.

Ichiro has expressed a strong desire to return to the Yankees earlier this offseason. The Yankees would also like to have him back, but he is not as high a priority as the pitching staff and probably Russell Martin as well. Ichiro is willing to wait though, even while he is getting interest from other teams.
