Astros claim Mickey Storey off waivers

Right handed pitcher Mickey Storey will join catcher Eli Whiteside as guys who were briefly with the Yankees organization, but have never played a game.

The Yankees claimed Storey off waivers just after Thanksgiving, but they placed him on waivers a week later with the hopes of keeping him, but removing him from the 40-man roster. Today he was claimed off waivers by the Houston Astros which is also the team that released him two weeks ago.

It’s too bad too because while Storey is not a big name prospect or anything he did have some potential. He’ll be 27 next season and has a career 3.86 ERA with a 10.1 K/9 and a 3.0 BB/9 in 30.1 major league innings. In the minors he had a 3.13 ERA, a 9.4 K/9 and a 2.5 BB/9.
