Rumor: Yankees still in the mix for Scott Hairston

Talk about Scott Hairston has died down, but according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Yankees are still in the mix to sign him.

Still it seems unlikely that the Yankees will land him. He seems to be looking for regular playing time and a reunion with the Mets seems like it’s in the works. He is also looking for a multi-year deal which makes things more complicated for them.

The Yankees are looking at Hairston as a lefty masher and a potential replacement for Andruw Jones. He can’t hit righties much, but against landed handed pitching Hairston hit .286/.317/.550 which is perfectly in that Jones mold.
