Yankees claim Jim Miller off waivers

The Yankees have been busy with the waiver wire and their latest move was to claim righty Jim Miller off waivers from the Oakland Athletics.

Perhaps Miller is going to be the next guy waived to clear space on the 40-man roster or perhaps the Yankees waived Eli Whiteside or Mickey Storey to make room for him. Either way, he’s on the Yankees 40-man roster for now.

Miller will be 31 next April. He has played in parts of three seasons in the majors since 2008. He has a 2.42 ERA in 63.1 innings with a 8.1 K/9 anda 5.1 BB/9. He had a 3.48 ERA, a 10.2 K/9 and a 3.2 BB/9 in nine career minor league seasons.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman is just stockpiling arms for the bullpen.
