Robinson Cano and Francisco Cervelli will also play in the WBC as members of the Dominican Republic and Italy respectively.

Former Yankees manager Joe Torre will be managing Team USA. R.A. Dickey and Ryan Vogelsong in the rotation. Craig Kimbrel, Chris Perez, Luke Gregerson, and Vinnie Pestano will be in the bullpen. David Wright, Joe Mauer, Ryan Braun, Brandon Phillips, Adam Jones, Giancarlo Stanton, Jonathan Lucroy, and Shane Victorino have also committed to playing.

The rest of the team will be revealed by Thursday.

I certainly don't mind Tex getting ready to play sooner, since he's such a slow starter anyway, but Pettite will increase the chances of arm problems with his participation in the WBC. Too much throwing and too many innings on a questionable "old" arm.

I doubt he'll be pitching 6, 7, or 8 innings early on. Pettitte knows his body well, he'll do the right thing. He's not some overzealous young player.
