Lots to catch up on today so I’ll just get right down to it.
The Yankees haven’t stopped searing for another right handed hitting outfielder despite having already signed Matt Diaz, but they don’t have any interest in Delmon Young, according to Joel Sherman of the NY Post.
Young, who is still just 27, has a career line of .284/.317/.425 in parts of seven seasons. He hits lefties better with a .307/.341/.483 career line agaisnt them and hit .308/.333/.500 against them last year.
But Sherman said that the Yankees consider him a horrible outfielder and are wary of how his past anti-semitic remarks would play in New York. It is true that he’s a horrible outfielder. He wasn’t terrible with a negative-4.2 last season, but has a negative-53.8 in his career. It also isn’t surprising to hear they’re weary of his past as the Yankees have put a focus on finding quality clubhouse guys for a few years now.
It is a shame though because while he would probably not fit into the clubhouse and is a horrible defensive outfielder, he would be a solid DH platoon option.
