BBDP April 23: Dellin beats Dice

Dellin Betances3BBD MVP: Dellin Betance: 7.0 IP, 7 K, ER, 2 BB

Triple-A RailRiders: W 2-1 vs Columbus. W: Betances (1-2), S: Claiborne (2). They beat Dice-K in this one, although it wasn’t because of the bats.

Corban Joseph: 1/4, 2B (.294)
Zoilo Almonte: 0/2, BB, K (.263)
Dan Johnson: 1/1, R, HR (1), 2 RBI, BB (.184)
David Adams: 0/3, 2 K (.317)
Austin Romine: 0/3, K (.351)
Melky Mesa: 0/3, 2 K (.258)
Addison Maruszak: 0/3, 2 K (.189)
Dellin Betances: 7.0 IP, 3 H, ER, 2 BB, 7 K (8.04 ERA) Stole the show today. These are the outings that get everyone’s hopes up only to be disappointed next start when he goes 3 innings and lets up 5 earned runs and 4 walks.
Preston Claiborne: 1.0 IP, H, 0 ER, K (2.35 ERA) Looking really solid this year. I think he can be a big part of the future of the Yankees bullpen.

Double-A Trenton: L 1-7 vs Akron. L: Tracy (1-2) They got one hit today. Just a bad day overall for this team.

Ramon Flores: 0/4, (.316)
Jose Pirela: 0/4, K (.239)
Tyler Austin: 0/3, R, BB, 2 K (.250)
JR Murphy: 0/4 (.293)
Kyle Roller: 1/3, 2B, BB (.333)
Slade Heathcott: 0/1, RBI, BB, K, (.176)
Kevin Mahoney: 0/2, BB, K (.231)
Matt Tracy: 5.1 IP, 10 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K (13.17 ERA) He is just letting up so many hits this season. Not sure what’s wrong with him.
Kelvin Perez: 1.2 IP, 2 H, ER, K (2.84 ERA)

High-A Tampa: W 3-2 vs Brevard Country. W: Arneson (1-1)

Mason Williams: 1/4 (.271)
Robert Refsnyder: 1/3, 2B, RBI, BB, K, 2 E (3) (.329) Hitting the ground running in Tampa. He’s looking pretty legitimate at this point.
Ben Gamel: 1/3, 2B, RBI, BB, K (.329) Every day he’s Hustlin’. Feels like the guy gets a hit every game.
Gary Sanchez: 0/4, K (.299)
Saxon Butler: 0/4, K (.182) Really struggling at this level, regular adjustment time stuff.
Anderson Feliz: 1/3, 2 R, BB, K, SB (2) (.220)
Dan Fiorito: 2/3, R (.500). http://baseballnewshound.com/?p=3558 Good article on Fiorito, who was signed last year. It’s a bit of a fluff piece, but this guy’s journey is a nice story. Apparently he’s got some tools though and they put him straight in Tampa, so he must be pretty decent.
Mikey O’Brien: 6.0 IP, 2 H, ER, 3 BB, 8 K (5.6 ERA) Nice outing. Hopefully this gets him going.
Zach Arneson: 1.0 IP, 2 H, ER, K (6.14 ERA) Had the blown save and the win.

Low-A Charleston: W 4-2  vs West Virginia. W: Encinas (3-0) S: Short (1)

Jake Cave: 2/5, R, 2 2B, RBI, K (.400) Great start to his first full season. Finally healthy so let’s see what this kid can do.
Cito Culver: 2/4, BB, K, E (6) (.233) Six errors already, hopefully he shakes off the rust. He’s already a light hitting short stop so he’s not much use if he can’t field either.
Greg Bird: 0/4, BB, K, E (2) (.246) Six for his last 35 (.171) after a hot start.
Peter O’Brien: 1/3, BB, K (.302) Becoming a reliable source of hits and walks.
Dante Bichette Jr.: 1/3, R, BB, K, E (4) (.178)
Taylor Dugas: 1/3, R, 2B, BB (.265)
Claudio Custodio: 3/4, RBI, 2 SB (2) (.258) I’d love to see a couple more games like this.
Gabriel Encinas: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, BB, 5 K (0.39 ERA) Absolute dominance. This kid is really becoming something special.
Dietrich Enns: 2.0 IP, H, 0 ER, BB, 3 K (0.00 ERA)
Charlie Short: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, BB, 3 K (1.04 ERA)
