Staten Island Yankees Lose in Rain-Shortened Game


The Staten Island Yankees fell to the visiting Hudson Valley Renegades 10-8 in a rain shortened game.  In the sixth inning flashes of lightening began to appear and the down pour started but it wasn’t until the middle of the seventh inning that the umpires called for the tarp to be pulled.

Giovanny Gallegos

Staten Island Yankees right-hander Giovanny Gallegos got the start for the Baby Bombers.  He had one of the worst starts of his career allowing 7 runs, 6 earned, on 8 hits.

Derek Toadvine

Derek Toadvine was lead it off for Staten Island, he was hitless in the game with a walk and run scored.

Mike O'Neill

Left-fielder Michael O’Neill was in the number 2 spot in the line up.  He added two hits to his season total, raising his batting average to .324.

Brandon Thomas

Brandon Thomas was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Yeicok Calderon

Yeicok Calderon was 1-for-3 with a RBI and run scored

Isaias Tejeda

Catcher Isaias Tejeda belted two hits for Staten Island with a RBI and plating two runs.

John Murphy

Shortstop John Murphy batted in the sixth spot and was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI

Daniel Lopez

Daniel Lopez made his second appearance since opening day and had two hits.

Bubba Jones

First baseman Bubba Jones had a big base hit with two outs to drive in a run.

Hector Crespo

Hector Crespo played third, batted ninth and had a hit.

Hector Crespo Fielding

He made a great tag at third in the first inning.
