Yankees 2013 22nd round draft pick: Derek Toadvine

22nd Round, 674th Overall: Derek Toadvine, 2B, Kent State, Year: JR, Bats: Right, Throws: Right, 5-foot-10, 175-pounds

D-Toad hit .297/.382/.339 with seven extra-base hits and 29 stolen bases in 239 at bats.┬áHe also had 26 walks and 50 strikeouts. So he’s a typical little second baseman. He’s quick, will steal some bags, has decent patience at the plate (50 K’s is a bit much for 239 at bats though), and no power. He also committed 14 errors this season (errors are a bit overrated as far as evaluating defense goes though).

Right off the bat I can say that this guy isn’t going to be much of a prospect. But you never know and the minor league teams do have to fill out their rosters with somebody. Maybe he surprises us.

D-Toad seems poised to sign with the Yankees any minute now.
