Yankees 2013 23rd round draft pick: Alex Polanco

23rd Round, 704th Overall: Alex Polanco, RHP, Western Oklahoma State, Year: J1, Bats: Right, Throws: Right, 6-foot-4, 230-pounds

A local kid, and Yankees fan growing up, from Pennsauken, NJ. He appeared in five games this season, starting three of them and had a 1.59 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 11.1 innings.┬áHe’s got the beginnings of four pitches and his fastball tops out in the low-to-mid 90’s.

MY TAKE: He doesn’t have significant experience to make a solid judgement on him, but he’s a big kid with potential. Perhaps the Yankees will have a slightly easier time signing him since he’s local.
