A college reliever who had a 3.56 ERA with 32 strikeouts and 14 walks in 30.1 innings this season. He’s a junior so at least for this pick the Yankees have gone away with the drafting-seniors-with-picks-6-10 plan. He’s out of the LSU bullpen which the Yankees obviously like though because they took Nick Goody from it last year.
MLB.com’s report: Rumbelow had a solid showing in 2013 for the Tigers, and his performance may end up getting him drafted. His fastball will sit in the low 90s but is straight most of the time. He also throws a power curveball with good, sharp bite that has the chance to be a plus pitch. Rumbelow has a good amount of effort to his delivery, however, and doesn’t have very good control. Many scouts are concerned he will get injured in the future due to bad arm action. A team that believes in his solid two-pitch mix out of a bullpen may give him a chance during the Draft.
From his LSU bio: Athletic, right-handed strike thrower who has a fastball that sits in the low 90s and a slider that he uses as an out pitch.
