Staten Island Yankees Fall to Cyclones in 10 innings

Philip Walby

After an 11 minute delay the Staten Island Yankees fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones in 10 innings at MCU Park.   In the first inning the skies opened up and the rain began to fall, eventually causing a rain delay.

Pitcher Philip Walby got the start for the Baby Bombers.  He threw three and two thirds of scoreless baseball allowing a hit and two walks while striking out three.

Derek Toadvine

Hector Crespo

Hector Crespo batted second and had a hit in the game.

Mike O'Neill

Michael O’Neill was held hitless in the third spot in the lineup.

Yeicok Calderon

Yeicok Calderon’s bat was kept quiet by Cyclone pitchers throughout the game.

Kale Sumner

Kale Sumner connected for a double and scored a run.

Bubbha Jones

Staten Island Yankees First Baseman Bubba Jones at the plate in the July 3, 2013 game against the Brooklyn Cyclones at MCU Park.  He had a hit in three at bats in the game.

John Murphy

John Murphy returned to the lineup after missing two games.

Mikeson Oliberto

Mikeson Oliberto did not record a hit and played left field

Trent Garrison

Trent Garrison got the start behind the plate and was hitless.

Bubbha Jones

Bubba Jones was kept busy at first with all the pick-off  attempts

Caleb Smith

Caleb Smith pitched three and two third innings in relief.  He allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out six.

Dillon McNamara

Dillon McNamara took the lost, his first of the year allowing a run in two innings. He allowed a hit, three walks and struck out four.

Andrew Benak

Andrew Benak pitched a third of an inning allowing the sac-fly that scored the winning run.

    Caleb Smith and Walby have looked great. I know scouts are high on Smith but I'm curious to hear what they think about the rest of the team.
