Yankees trade rumor: Michael Young isn’t available

Michael+YoungFor the Yankees, Michael Young could fill a couple of holes at both first and third bases, but when the Yankees called the Phillies to ask about him in a trade they were told that he isn’t available, according to Peter Gammons.

The Phillies have actually been winning lately and are now just six games out of a Wild Card spot which is why they don’t want to go into sell mode just yet. This isn’t the first time the Yankees have been interested in Young. With a lot of questions surrounding Alex Rodriguez in his return from hip surgery, expect the Yankees to keep looking for third base help.

Young, 36, is hitting .292/.348/.419 in 88 games this season. Not only could he play both first and third base for the Yankees, but he would provide them with some much needed right handed power.
