Notes and News: Cano, Kuroda, Rodriguez, Pettitte, Rivera

Robbie Cano 3

Unlike yesterday where there were a bunch of top stories going on, it’s quiet today. So, I’m basically going to sum up just small details of what happened today.

Robinson CanoAs we all know, Robinson Cano made headlines yesterday after an article came out that Cano was asking for 10-years, $305 Million. Cano was asked about it today, but danced around it. He’s not going to focus on the contract right now and will play the final three games here in Houston before the offseason. He says during free agency he will do what’s best for his family.

Hiroki KurodaHiroki Kuroda revealed today that he’s unsure of what he’s going to do next season. He could either sign one more year here, go to Japan, or he could retire. It basically depends how he’s feeling in the offseason.

Alex RodriguezNot sure why this is a news story, but yes…Alex Rodriguez made it to Houston.

Andy Pettitte:  Andy Pettitte revealed something very interesting in his press conference today. In 2003 when he signed to the Houston Astros, he was offered contracts from the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles–and the money offers were very tempting. Of course, Andy chose home over money which is a great lesson in life: don’t be greedy kids! Your family still loves you whether you’re rich or poor.

Mariano RiveraJoe Girardi said Mariano Rivera can basically do whatever he wants this weekend. If he wants to pitch or if he wants to play CF. I think we’re all leaning towards Mo playing in CF. His pitching career ended beautifully last night after that historic and emotional goodbye.
