Every time you watch a movie, T.V. show or documentary, there are always some scenes that don’t make the cut due to time constraints. A deleted scene from the Mariano Rivera documentary Being: Mariano was released and it chronicles a bit of Mariano Rivera in San Diego during the Yankees series vs. the San Diego Padres.
The clip starts with Lyle Overbay and Rivera joking about how Mo changed his mind and decided not to retire and ends with Rivera and Robinson Cano joking about what gift he’ll receive next during his retirement tour.
The important part of the clip was Rivera and Trevor Hoffman speaking so fondly about one another, Rivera calling Hoffman the leader of closer’s everywhere since Hoffman was the first closer to ever reach 600 saves.
You can view the clip here. I’d put the clip in the article but I’m not sure if MLB.com videos would work here.
Being: Mariano airs tomorrow at EITHER 2:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. PLEASE check your local listings.
