Some Yankees notes and links

A-Rod 10

A couple of things happened today but I wasn’t near a computer, so I didn’t get a chance to update the blog. I took a couple of minutes and rounded everything that happened in order to make a notes and link post to keep everyone (including myself) up to speed.

Alex Rodriguez‘s hearing to have his 211-game suspension overturned is in recess until the week of November 18.

— The Yankees obviously are looking for free agents in order to have a chance to contend next season. However, Scott Boras told the New York Post that the free agents aren’t exactly sold on going to the Yankees.

The Chicago White Sox signed Cuban first basemen Jose Abreu for a six-year, $68 Million contract. Lohud Yankees discusses how Abreu’s asking price could affect the the asking price for Japanese pitcher Masahiro Tanaka.

According to ESPN New York, a source said that the New York Yankees plan on going on a free agent shopping spree since they are shedding $85-$90 Million from the 2013 payroll.

Congratulations to the St. Louis Cardinals for doing it the "right way." Their player development system, scouting, and overall minor league program is a model that the Yankees should look to model. Pretty sad when our last impact player in the organization was Robinson Cano nearly 10 years ago and we did not have any position players that were major league ready this past season when we were crippled with injuries. Where are all of these catchers that supposedly had advance to major league capabilities? The Yankees wait too long to give their young players a chance or they trade with Seattle and get damaged goods!!!
