Girardi finishes 4th in AL Manager of the Year voting

Girardi 5

We all pretty much knew Joe Girardi wasn’t going to win the AL Manager of the Year award, but it was nice to know that Girardi finished 4th in voting.¬†Girardi received two second-place votes and five third-place votes from the BBWAA.

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona edged out Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell for the AL Manager of the Year award. Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle won the NL Manager of the Year Award.

  1. If the Yankees could have made the playoffs then there is no way Girardi wouldn't have won manager of the year. He should have won anyway considering he kept them in the hunt for most of the season with an absolutely terrible roster. What an amazing year from the Skipper.

i thought Farrell would win it considering he took the team from last to first on their way to a championship…is the manager of the year award based on regular season or are they influenced by post season results…
