Source: Harkey to leave Yankees coaching staff for Diamondbacks

Mike Harkey

Well, it looks like there’s another hole for the New York Yankees to fill.

According to Mark Feinsand of the Daily News, Yankees bullpen coach Mike Harkey is reportedly leaving the Yankees to be the pitching coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Considering that earlier in the offseason the Yankees granted Harkey permission to talk to the Diamondbacks for the job opening, the news isn’t exactly a shocker. It’s more stunning that the Yankees have to fill another hole. The Yankees still have to find an outfielder, a second basemen, a closer(???), a lefty specialist, and two pitchers for the starting rotation. Well, let’s just add ‘bullpen coach’ to the hefty to-do list.

He's deserting a sinking ship. Might be a smart move on his part.

larry is the pitching coach while harkey was the bullpen coach..now harkey gets a promotion to be the diamondback pitching coach

How about replacing him with Charlie Wonz? He's been around for ages, knows the Yankee system, he's trusted and I think he can handle the job. Video and batting practice guys are easier to find. Good luck and all the best to Mikey!
