2013 Rule 5 Draft Results

The last day of the Winter Meetings usually means the Rule 5 Draft took place, a draft where teams take the minor leaguers from other organizations if they’re not protected on the 40-man roster. The Yankees 40-man roster was full so the Yankees didn’t draft anyone, but they did lose players in the draft. Here’s the rundown of who the Yankees lost during the Rule 5 Draft:

Major League Phase:

Tommy Kahnle, RHP, Scranton-Wilkes Barre (Drafted by Colorado Rockies)

Triple-A Phase:

Ravel Santana, OF, Trenton (Drafted by Houston Astros)
Mikey O’Brien, RHP, Trenton (Drafted by Cincinnati Reds)
Felipe Gonzalez, RHP, Trenton (Drafted by Pittsburgh Pirates)

Double-A Phase:

Kelvin Castro, RHP, Charleston (Drafted by Miami Marlins)
