Well, it looks as if Brett Marshall‘s tenure as a New York Yankee is officially over.
According to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish, the Chicago Cubs claimed Brett Marshall off waivers. Marshall was designated for assignment last week after the Yankees announced the Carlos Beltran signing was official.
Marshall made three relief appearances for the Yankees in 2013 but he spent the bulk of the year in Triple-A where he had a 5.19 ERA with 7.8 K/9 and 4.4 BB/9 in 25 starts. Just last season, Marshall was listed sixth among the Yankees prospects, gaining praise for having the best changeup in the Yankees farm system. Although he’s 23, the Cubs sensed some potential from him and are optimistic that Marshall could be an asset to their team.
