Source: Gardner will not be traded

Gardner 14

I know we spoke about this briefly last night in the Jacoby Ellsbury thread, but this has to be addressed again because I’ve noticed on Twitter everyone is freaking out like the Major League Baseball apocalypse is coming.

According to, Brett Gardner will not be traded. A source close to the Yankees told ESPN New York that trading Gardner wasn’t part of the plan for the 2014 season.

“Absolutely not,” a source told Wallace Matthews. “The whole idea is to put the two of them at the top of the lineup. They would be an electric duo.”

So there you have it. The Yankees aren’t going to move Gardner. So instead of plotting where his new team would be (it’d be ironic if it was the Red Sox), imagine him and Ellsbury stealing bases on a daily basis, annoying the heck out of the pitchers and the both of them being on the same side for once.

    Not even for SP? lol.

That is good news, considering Yankees could count on Phelps, Warren, Nuno, Marshall, Turley to keep the rotation going at worst. Defense is SP's best friend.

Sounds good like stuff. The cleanup man must be going wild thinking of his RBI count for years to come!!

Gardner, Nunez, Sanchez, Heathcott and Montgomery to Colorado for Tulowitzki

I hope Gardner stays in New York unless he's part of a good trade that brings in a very good pitcher…we really do need another pitcher if Kuroda and/or Tanaka doesn't become a Yankee…
