Source: Yankees “very much interested” in Michael Young

Michael Young

The Yankees did say they needed a second basemen…maybe a third basemen too?

According to Erik Boland and Steve Marcus of Newsday, the Yankees are “very much interested” in free agent Michael Young. Young was a short stop most of his career, but he has also played second and third base. Young had also drawn interest from the Yankees in the past.

Young 37, hit .279 with 8 HR’s and 48 RBI’s with both the Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2013.

one of the things I've noticed is that the Yankees have not been signing guys that draw walks…i like the idea of wearing down a pitcher and putting men on base…it was a building block of the Yankees in the 1990's…simple and effective…look at the outfielder Choo…draws walks, great obp…would have preferred Choo over Ellsbury…also loved Bobby Abreu as a ballplayer, not so much defensively although he was ok…
