Yankees sign Jacoby Ellsbury pending a physical

Jacoby Ellsbury

The New York Yankees have just signed free agent OF Jacoby Ellsbury to a 7-year, $153 Million deal pending a physical, according to Mark Feinsand of the Daily News.

The Yankees planned to play Ellsbury in CF and shift Brett Gardner to LF in 2014. Despite the sudden rumors that Gardner would be traded after the signing, a Yankee official confirmed that Gardner will stay with the team for the 2014 campaign.

“We have no intention of trading Gardner.” The Yankees official said in a statement.

Ellsbury hit .298 with 9 HR’s and 53 RBI’s in 2013 for the Boston Red Sox, swiping 52 bases. However, Ellsbury’s career high in stolen bases is 70, which occurred in 2009.

WORSE signing ever(Elllsbury) ! They Let Cano getaway because you don't know what you're getting then he gets older then sign a RedSOXX again RedSOXX!to seven yrs over 100 million OMG ! Granderson would have been a lot better and cheaper! With the great loss and bad signings looks like our best days are behind us! Cano will be a hall of Famer some day and it will be one that will haunt Real NEWYORKERS! My family and friends have been a huge long time fans for over 35yrs and will not be watching this disaster that HAL and Cashman have made! This is a team that is not a New Yorkers team it's a FL corporate team !Ellsbury signing makes us sick Ellsbury will never win a ring with the yanks . Yankees needed pinching not a center fielder from our Nemesis !Yanks front office didn't think of there fans!!Hey Hal without a fan base you don't get people to the stadium don't watch YES network don't buy jerseys etc.You clearly are a premadonna who doesn't understand baseball like your great great father our beloved "George"! He was baseball! George was a businessman Saleman who deserves to be in the Hall of fame!
