While it has been an exciting offseason for the Yankees in general, it had been a quiet offseason for Derek Jeter, who is rehabbing his ankle to prepare for the 2014 campaign.
Of course, with all the Alex Rodriguez news going around, it doesn’t seem as if Jeter’s rehabbing program is much concern to reporters. While at a charity event in Tampa, Jeter answered questions about A-Rod’s 162 game suspension. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Jeter said he was “saddened by the whole situation with A-Rod” and the process had been “messy” before moving on to another subject.
A-Rod and Jeter have a complicated relationship, but they do have mutual respect for one another. However, Jeter calling the situation “messy” is an understatement.
And if you were wondering–yes, Jeter is fine and he should be ready for Opening Day.
