The Yankees can now breathe in a sigh of relief because all five of their arbitration eligible guys are signed for the 2014 season.
The Yankees and Ivan Nova avoided arbitration with a one-year, $3.3 Million deal for the 2014 campaign. MLB Trade Rumors predicted Nova would make approximately $2.8 Million. For the most part, MLB Trade Rumors had been pretty accurate with their predictions, only being off by a million for the most part.
The Yankees are now creeping closer to their $189 Million luxury tax mark, as the five arbitration signings equaled approximately $16.5 Million. Even with the arbitration signings and with a threat of being over $189 Million, the Yankees are still going to be in play for Masahiro Tanaka.
