Yankees expected to meet with Tanaka 6

Masahiro Tanaka 8

Let the Masahiro Tanaka Games begin!

According to CBS Sports, Tanaka landed in the United States, (Los Angeles to be exact) where he will begin to meet with teams by Friday. Some of the teams that are expected to meet with Tanaka are the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees. The club that decides to sign Tanaka would have to pay a $20 Million posting fee to the Rakuten Golden Eagles.

Tanaka has been the number one priority for the Yankees after the signing of Brian McCann, Carlos Beltran and Jacoby Ellsbury earlier this winter. Teams (including the Yankees) may negotiate with Tanaka until January 24th.

The Yankees eye Tanaka as an upgrade to their starting rotation which currently involves CC Sabathia, Ivan Nova and Hiroki Kuroda. Michael Pineda, David Phelps and Adam Warren would battle during Spring Training for the final two spots should Tanaka choose to not sign with the Yankees.

kuroda should speak to tanaka and tell him about all the perks in new York. I mean, it just wouldn't hurt, it can only help. why not give it a try?.

I think Tanaka already knows the perks in NY. What is going to move him is the almighty dollar. Because he isn't the one doing the negotiating…his agent is. Don't be surprised if Boston becomes a player as well. Nothing they would love more than swoop in and snatch Tanaka from the Yankees plans.

if the assman and the steinbrenners allow boston to snatch taneka away from them, then they should all be hung by the balls on prime time television.
