Yankees sign Brett Gardner to extension deal

Brett Gardner 14

The Yankees normally don’t do extension signings in the midst of a players contract, but the Yankees made the exception for Brett Gardner.

According to Jack Curry of YES Network, the Yankees and Gardner agreed to a four-year, $52 Million deal which will start in 2015.

There had been a lot of speculation as to what the Yankees would do with Gardner in his walk year. I predicted a contract extension this season but I knew it was against the norm for the Yankees to do an extension deal. With the Gardner signing, the Yankees now have certainty beyond this season when it comes to the outfield.
