Ichiro Suzuki went 3-for-3 and CC Sabathia had his final tuneup before Opening Day as the Yankees defeated the Pirates 4-2 in Bradenton, Florida.

CC Sabathia went four scoreless innings, giving up only three hits without a walk or strikeout as he finished his preseason work. He finishes the Spring with a 1.29 ERA in 21 innings which includes 17 constitutive scoreless innings.

“I worked hard and I look to pitch well every time no matter what, Spring Training or the World Series,” said Sabathia. “I’m glad that I pitched well. Now it’s time to clean the slate and start the season.”

The Yankees offense got to work in the first inning with a lead-off single from Ichiro who eventually came around to score on a Mark Teixeira RBI groundout. Zoilo Almonte added on by adding his own RBI single. In the fourth, Ichiro used his third and final hit to drive in a run and was followed by Eduardo Nunez, who plated Ichiro.
