Some notes and tidbits: Tanaka, Ryan, Ellsbury

Masahiro Tanaka 12

Here are some notes and tidbits to end another day of Spring Training:

— The Yankees released their rotation for the rest of the week, up until the off-day on Monday. Masahiro Tanaka will take a bus ride to Fort Meyers on Saturday to play the Minnesota Twins while Hiroki Kuroda will pitch in a minor league game on the same day. Here’s the rest of the rotation:

Wednesday: Ivan Nova
Thursday: David Phelps
Friday: CC Sabathia
Saturday: Masahiro Tanaka
Sunday: Michael Pineda

Joe Girardi says it’s unlikely Jacoby Ellsbury will play on Thursday and it seems more unlikely he’ll play on Friday. Ellsbury says the calf still feels a little tight, which has earned slight concern from the Yankees.

He’s still day-to-day,” Girardi said. “The one thing is, you want to make sure guys are completely healthy before they come back. I don’t really have a day (in mind for him to return). … Once he tells me he doesn’t feel anything, maybe it’s a day or two after that.”

Brendan Ryan will return to the field on Thursday night when the Yankees face the Red Sox at Fort Meyers. Ryan has been out since last week with an oblique/back injury.
