Yankees beat Astros 9-6 in see-saw match

Kelly Johnson 2

Throughout the entire game, the Yankees and the Astros continued to trade the lead but the Yankees triumphed in the end, beating the Astros 9-6 at Osceola County Stadium.

The Yankees were trailing in the 6th inning when Mason Williams hit a SAC fly to cut the deficit to one run. Dexter Fowler, the center fielder for the Astros, fired a ball into the dugout following a single from Brett Gardner, allowing two runs to score, giving the Yankees a 7-6 lead.

Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and easily had his worst outing of the Spring, giving up three runs on eight hits in four innings. Manny Banuelos, who was pitching for the first time since having Tommy John Surgery, gave up three runs on two hits in 2/3 of an inning. Despite that, Banuelos said he felt good and was happy he was finally able to pitch in an actual game.

Kelly Johnson homered for the Yankees in the third inning and Mark Teixeira hit a long double to left-center in three at-bats.
