Kuroda knocked around as Yanks fall to Angels 13-1

Hiroki Kuroda 6

The Yankees were hoping for a good outing from Hiroki Kuroda–instead, Kuroda was knocked around for eight runs, burying the Yankees in a 13-1 loss at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Kuroda only went four innings plus, giving up eight runs to a potent Angels lineup. Bruce Billings made his season debut, going four innings and giving up four runs while Shawn Kelley gave up a run in the ninth.

A day after the Yankees scored 14 runs against the Red Sox, they were only able to score one run against C.J. Wilson and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Brett Gardner was the only Yankee with multi-hits off Wilson, while the Yankees finally broke through against Wilson in the bottom of the sixth on a SAC Fly by Alfonso Soriano.

What’s Next?

— The Yankees will try to rebound and attempt to take the rubber match of this series. Vidal Nuno will take the mound for the Yankees while Hector Santiago will take the mound for the Angels. First pitch will be at 1:05 p.m. and the¬†Yankees will make their¬†debut on Fox Sports 1.

I think we are starting to see the guy who we all dreaded, the guy who would be getting beaten up by all the good lineups in the A.L. It was a mistake from day 1 to get Kuroda and it was a mistake to keep him this winter.

    • It was a mistake to get a guy that signed as a free agent, didn't take a huge long-term deal to get, didn't cost a draft pick, has had a 3.44 ERA, never gets hurt, isn't wild, is a perfect teammate? Why? Because he's had one really bad start this season?

Signing Kuroda was one of the best things that Cashman has ever done as GM.

  2. Robert Rufa says:

The Yankees are an enigma this year. They can be awesome one day and pathetic the next, with not many in-between days.

Kuroda is a good pitcher and when season is over should have around 15 wins. He doesn't have dominating stuff and can get hit hard if not sharp but it sure wasn't a mistake. A good signing I would say!

15 wins, haha! I hope so but dont' keep your fingers crossed. Probably end up more like 9 maybe 10. A classic example of one of his games is the 4-0 lead he blew against Tampa. The team ended up losing the game. Not all his fault, sure, but he loses a lot of games… this way and that way and….

  4. We’re going to see this next week and we’re so excited! So glad to hear that you loved it,
