CC Sabathia to DL with fluid in his knee

CC Sabathia 5

Well, there’s another starting pitcher that’s going on the disabled list and this time it’s CC Sabathia, who literally made his last start yesterday.

Joe Girardi said Sabathia will go on the disabled list with fluid in his right knee. Sabathia complained of pain after yesterday’s game and the Yankees sent him for an MRI. Good news is there’s no tear in his knee and Girardi believes this will be a 15-day thing. In the meantime, the Yankees are calling up Matt Daley to take Sabathia’s roster spot. As for his spot in the rotation, Alfredo Aceves seems to be the favorite to replace Sabathia for the next two weeks.

Sabathia will talk to the media after the game, so I’ll have quotes on that later. In the meantime, the pregame notes will be up shortly.

The problem with CC is insurmountable! With a 5.28 ERA, allowing 58 hits in 46 innings pitched, including 10 homeruns, a batting average of 301 by opposing teams, earning 23 million a year, how are the Yankees going to replace this valuable commodity?

The Dl is where he needs to be right now. Hopefully he''ll spend enough time there to heal.

I also hope he gains 20 lbs. I said before the season he's too thin (for him anyway). Some guys are better heavier and being 6-7 I think he's one of those guys.

this is not looking good for the Yankees…i think Aceves is the right choice but I'd like to see a promotion if we have anyone close to ready at AAA or AA…not sure if we do at AAA…ah, it's more wishful thinking but I figure if the Yankees are a .500 team this year, I'd like to see some guys get a shot…and I'd like to see Gary Sanchez at AAA…
