Injury Update: Pineda, Teixeira

Mark+Teixeira

Well, remember in the last injury update there was good news and more good news? Yeah, not so much anymore. Here’s some injury updates from the Yankees following this afternoon’s win.

Michael Pineda: Pineda was originally slated to make his next rehab start on Sunday and return the second week of June, but now that isn’t the case. Pineda has been shut down by the Yankees with inflammation in his upper back near his shoulder, in the same area that landed him on the DL in the first place. .

Mark Teixeira: Teixeira left the game in the sixth inning with a sore right wrist, meaning he’s not isn’t exactly where he wants it to be in terms of health. Girardi said Teixeira had a cortisone shot and he will not play tomorrow and Monday. He’ll be re-evaluated Tuesday and the Yankees will not make a roster move at this time.
