McCann has three hits in 12-7 loss to Mets

Brian McCann 7

The Yankees came into this series needing to take one of the two games at Yankee Stadium. Instead, the pitching blew the game while the offense desperately tried to climb back in a 12-7 loss at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.

The Yankees needed a good outing from Vidal Nuno–instead, he handed in his worst outing of the season, going 3.1 innings while giving up seven runs (five earned) on four hits with four walks and a home run. Alfredo Aceves entered the game and also didn’t have a good outing, going 1.2 innings while giving up four runs on four hits and two strikeouts. Matt Daley was by far the Yankees best pitcher of the night, pitching 3.0 innings of scoreless ball and Preston Claiborne pitched the ninth inning while surrendering only one run.

The Yankees offense did everything under it’s power to scratch and claw in the game, and a day after Brian McCann said he needed to give results, he did just that, going 3-for-4 with a home run. Brett Gardner also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 with an RBI. Yangervis Solarte had his first Yankee Stadium home run in the eighth inning, capping an impressive 2-for-3 day.
