Yankees fall to Twins 6-1 in series opener

The Yankees were hoping to build some momentum as they returned home to the Bronx for a seven game homestand, but three home runs given up by Vidal Nuno sealed the Yankees fate and sent them to a 6-1 loss at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.

The Yankees scored their lone run in the third inning when Brett Gardner grounded into a force out, stole second and scored on a RBI double by Jacoby Ellsbury.

Vidal Nuno was hoping for a bounce back start, but unfortunately he gave the Yankees the opposite, going 6.2 innings while giving up four runs on seven hits and serving up three home runs. Preston Claiborne came in for the Yankees, giving up two runs on three hits in 1.1 innings of work and Matt Daley pitched a scoreless inning.
