After two games at Yankee Stadium, and two brutal losses led by Yankees pitching, the Yankees will pack their bags, fans will take the 7 train and both teams will go across town to Queens where Games 3 and 4 of the Subway Series will be played at Citi Field. The Mets are already up 2-0 in the Subway Series and the Yankees are in danger of being swept a second Subway Series in a row. Hopefully, tonight’s starting pitcher for the Yankees can stop the bleeding.
Masahiro Tanaka will make the start for the Bronx Bombers, with hopes of stopping the Yankees four game skid and to improve to a team best 6-0. The Yankees last won on Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin before dropping the final two games of the series. However, the Yankees task will be daunting; they’re facing Rafael Montero who is making his Major League debut tonight and the Yankees have never seen Montero before. They’re also slated to go against Dillon Gee on Thursday while sending Chase Whitley to the mound to replace an injured CC Sabathia.
The Yankees are in a tough spot, but they’re not completely out of the AL East: no one in the division is exactly running away with the crown. The Yankees are in danger of falling under .500 for the first time since the Yankees/Astros series, so to say the Yankees need a win to stop a four game skid is an understatement. They not only need to win, they have to win and tonight would be a good place to start.
