The Yankees have been on Fox Sports 1 this season, but they’re going to be on National television as tonight’s Yankees and Royals game is on FOX for the first time this year. In order to try to secure a win, the Yankees will send David Phelps to the mound as he looks to bounce back after his last start.
Phelps’s last start wasn’t a pretty one, going only six innings while giving up six runs on six hits while striking out four against the Seattle Mariners. Phelps will oppose Danny Duffy who is coming off a great start for the Royals. In his last time out, Duffy went six innings giving up no runs on one hit while striking out five against the St. Louis Cardinals. However, Duffy does not have a good track record against the Yankees: he has faced the Yankees twice, giving up 10 runs in less than 10 innings of work.
If Phelps and Duffy have something they’d like to prove, it would be for the best if they did it under the bright lights of Kauffman Stadium on a nationally televised game. I also have a gut feeling that four runs won’t be enough for the Yankees to win this game coming into tonight. The offense needs to hit to their potential, and I know the offense can scratch out more than four runs a night when all the bats are hot at the same time.
