Offense can’t help Tanaka as O’s blank Yanks 8-0

Masahiro Tanaka has been the Yankees best pitcher since the beginning of the season and he had another good outing this afternoon. Unfortunately, the Yankees offense couldn’t capitalize on Tanaka’s start as they were blanked by the Orioles 8-0 at Yankee Stadium, in the Bronx, New York.

I usually write about the Yankees offense first, but there was no offense so let’s just skip right to the pitching. Masahiro Tanaka pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on six hits and striking out six. It was a perfectly manageable game if the Yankees offense was in it–but Adam Warren gave up four runs on four hits and David Huff didn’t help matters by giving up a run on two hits.

Mark Teixeira was taken out of the game in the eighth inning after being hit in the foot with a ball. Good news is X-Rays are negative and he should be a player for Joe Girardi tomorrow.

What’s Next?

— The Yankees will go across the border to Canada where they’ll face the Toronto Blue Jays in a three game set at the Rogers Centre. Chase Whitley will take the mound for the Yankees with hopes of giving the Yankees the win. First pitch at 7:05 p.m. and the game will air on the YES Network.

One Response to Offense can’t help Tanaka as O’s blank Yanks 8-0

  1. Robert Rufa says:

Relatively bad game for Tanaka, but zero support from the offense will always = a loss. That kind of inconsistency will get them exactly nowhere in the end. Girardi has to try something: next time they score a lot of runs and win against a decent pitcher, DON'T CHANGE THE LINEUP.
