This was a crucial series for the New York Yankees as they faced the first place Toronto Blue Jays, but they took some pressure off themselves when they took the first two games of the series. While the Yankees have secured a series victory, they want more: they want the series sweep the first place Jays before the Baltimore Orioles come to town. With hopes the Yankees can get the final game of the series, they turn to David Phelps who is coming off his best outing of the season.

David Phelps faced the tough Oakland Athletics lineup his last time out, going 6.2 innings while giving up no runs on four hits, with the Yankees winning the¬†game. They’ll face Drew Hutchinson, who also had a victory and a scoreless outing his last time out. He went seven innings, giving up no runs on six hits and striking out three against the Baltimore Orioles.

It seemed the Yankees bats have come alive of late, and if they win tomorrow they will only 1.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays. the Yankees are heating up while the Blue Jays are stumbling, and the Jays might want to be careful since the Baltimore Orioles are right on their tail. The Yankees are in the drivers seat of their destiny, and so far they’ve done a great job in controlling what they’re able to control.
