Roster Moves: Aceves, Claiborne, Ramirez, LeBlanc, Beltran

Alfredo Aceves 3

Here are some more roster moves as the Yankees prepare for the second game of this three game set against the Oakland A’s.

1) I had figured this would be the outcome, especially after Alfredo Aceves was cleaning out his locker following last night’s game, but he has been designated for assignment. Wade LeBlanc, who the Yankees claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, will take his roster spot.

2) The Yankees have optioned RHP Preston Claiborne to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes Barre just before tonight’s game. Jose Ramirez has been called up and will take Claiborne’s spot. I’m not sure why Claiborne was optioned because he hadn’t been pitching poorly, maybe the Yankees figured they couldn’t use him for a few days because he’s been throwing so many pitches lately? Who knows.

3) There isn’t a roster move as of yet, but the Yankees are expecting to take Carlos Beltran off the disabled list tomorrow and he will be in the lineup. Who will be the corresponding move for Beltran? Will Scott Sizemore go back down or could the Yankees take the unconventional route and designate Kelly Johnson for assignment? I guess we’ll find out what happens tomorrow.

Yah! I am not a fan of Claiborne. New problem is when will Girardi ever put Ramirez in a game? I hope tonight as the game will be televised. lol.

he didn't do so bad…hopefully Girardi will give him some more work and we'll see if he can handle the bigs…by the way, what happened to Sanchez…he was doing so well and then fell apart…injury?
