Roster Moves: Teixeira, Sizemore, Pineda, Almonte, LeBlanc 6

Here are a few Yankees roster moves before tonight’s series opener against the Oakland Athletics.

1) Mark Teixeira is back in the Yankees lineup after missing the Twins and Mariners series with a sore wrist. He’s batting cleanup and will be the first basemen.

2) After I wrote about Zoilo Almonte needing more playing time, the Yankees sent him down to Triple-A. As the corresponding move, the Yankees have called up Scott Sizemore.

3) The Yankees have claimed LHP Wade LeBlanc off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and as a corresponding move, the Yankees have placed Michael Pineda on the 60-day disabled list. The disabled list is retroactive, meaning it won’t have much effect on when Pineda returns.

It's hard to see how LeBlanc helps the Yankees. He's a lefty starter that does better against righties than lefties. He isn't particularly good though. Career 4.53 ERA, 6.1 K/9 and 3.3 BB/9. He throws about 86 mph on average, throws a fastball, changeup and cutter and occasionally mixes in a curve or a slider.

They must feel like they just need an extra arm, any arm.

Agree with that I don't think LeBlanc helps much, except to be a replacement for Aceves.

Expect Alfredo Aceves to be DFA'd today. He was cleaning out his locker after the game, via Mark Feinsand.
