Well, the first two series at home didn’t go quite well for the Yankees, now did it?
After losing the series against the Twins and dropping yesterday’s game against the Mariners, the Yankees have to turn it around now that the Athletics are in town for a three game series. The Yankees offense has been struggling this entire home stand, scoring only eight runs in four games. They’re slated to get Mark Teixeira back sometime this series and Carlos Beltran later this week, but that’s another story for another day.
The Yankees pitching for the most part has been fine, minus a few bullpen hiccups, and it’s going to have to be up to Hiroki Kuroda, Vidal Nuno and Masahiro Tanaka to give the Yankees three well pitched games. Kuroda and Nuno have been so-so while Tanaka has been fantastic, but the Yankees have to get on a roll or else they could in jeopardy of falling deeper behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East standings.
The Yankees will face Scott Kazmir and the A’s rotation, but it won’t be an easy task. All three starters going for the A’s this series have ERA’s under three. I’ll have the pitching matchups for the Yankees later this afternoon, but for now I’ll leave you with this: Yankees need to get the offense going, or their going to be in serious trouble.
