With all the negative news surrounding the Yankees lately, I thought I would start the day with something a little more lighthearted regarding the Yankees captain and his book publishing company. Just a little bit of light reading before the Yankees go and play the Orioles, which promises to be a good series. Anyway, here’s the story.
During the offseason, Derek Jeter announced his own book publishing company and by September, he will have his first book, a book aimed towards the middle school market.
“The Contract”, a novel slated to be released on September 23rd, is loosely based on Derek Jeter’s childhood experience on a baseball team although the work is purely fiction. The book is penned by Jeter himself.
There are two other books that are slated to be released by Jeter; a photo book on The Captain’s final season and an non-fiction adult book titled “The Ed Lucas Story”, which is slated to be published in the Spring of 2015.
Jeter said in a statement that his goal was “to develop a wide-ranging catalog of interesting books” and to do youth oriented books that “teach children fundamental life lessons through engaging and fun content.”
