A game that started off great for the Yankees ended in disaster as they were swept by the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.
The Yankees scored in the first inning on a lead-off home run by Brett Gardner. In the bottom of the third, Brian McCann hit a solo home run and in the fourth inning, Brett Gardner hit an RBI single scoring Alfonso Soriano.
Vidal Nuno had a solid outing, giving up four runs on eight hits and striking out five. Shawn Kelley delivered the difference between the Yankees and Rays, giving up a two-run shot in the sixth inning (one of the runs were charged to Nuno). Adam Warren pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless ball and David Huff gave up a run in his inning of work.
