Gardner homers in rain shorted 2-1 victory over Rangers

The last time the Yankees were in a rain shortened game, they walked away with the loss. This time, the Yankees had another rain shortened game but they were able to come away with a 2-1 victory against Yu Darvish and the Texas Rangers at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.

The Yankees scored their two runs in the third inning on a balk by Francisco Cervelli and a home run by Brett Gardner. Gardner now has 10 home runs on the season, which is the first time he’s hit double digits in the home run category in his career.

David Phelps pitched five great innings, giving up one run on seven hits and striking out three before the rains came in.
