The Yankees and Orioles were stuck in a rain delay for approximately two hours, but the damage had already been done. The Yankees had fell to the Orioles in a five inning 3-1 loss at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland, sending them to a series loss against Baltimore.
The Yankees lone run came in the first inning on a 3-0 pitch to Brett Gardner, who deposited it into the right field seats for his ninth home-run of the season. The nine home runs are a season and career high for Gardner.
Chase Whitley gave up three runs on five hits while striking out four in 3.2 innings before handing the ball to David Huff. Huff retired the only batter he faced before the rain came down and subsequently ended the game.
— It’s All-Star Week…but let’s fast forward a little bit to Friday where David Phelps will take the mound for the Yankees in a three game set against the Cincinnati Reds at Yankee Stadium. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. and the game will air on the YES Network.
