Greene blanks O’s as Yanks win 3-0

In just the second start of his MLB career, Shane Greene was able to fool the powerful Baltimore Orioles lineup,  leading the Yankees to a 3-0 shutout victory at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Yankees offense had been up and down, but three runs was just enough to get the job done. The Yankees first scored in the third inning when Mark Teixeira hit an RBI double, scoring Brett Gardner. Derek Jeter was out on a play at the plate to end the inning. The Yankees tacked on two more insurance runs in the seventh inning on a Derek Jeter single and a Jacoby Ellsbury RBI Double.

Shane Greene went 7.1 innings, giving up four hits and striking out a career high nine batters. David Huff faced a batter but was unable to retire him, prompting Shawn Kelley to get the final two outs of the 8th. David Robertson closed the game in the 9th inning and notched his 23rd save in 25 attempts.
